I Love Aruba Just got back on May 22nd

A few very minor changes at the Phoenix:

The new spa by Pure Beach was a little warmer this time.

On top of the rocks at the right breakwater (looking out to sea), there's a new walkway out to a small dock where boats can pick up and drop off passengers.

No palapas on the Pure Beach beach although there is more sand.

The ice cream case at the French Market deli is actually working now.

Not as many iguanas hanging out

VERY quiet this time (May 7-21). No loud or obnoxious people at the bar.

Thanks for the update - we will be there in 114 days - such a long wait!!!!! Did you happen to take any photos of the new dock area? Hard to picture

sorry, no picture. It's just a wooden walkway and then a few steps down to a platform that a boat can pull up to so that you don't need to get in and out of the water to access a boat.

In all the times I walked past the new jewelry store (where the former souvenir store was), I never even saw one person in it. What a wasted space. I wonder how long that'll last.

They sure could have used a little store selling small food items, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, snacks. Playa Linda has a store like that where you can pick up chips or peanut butter & jelly, soup, cereal, even milk.

They used to have that stuff at the French Market. Are you saying they don't have a comparable replacement?

Everything is relocated now. The French market is replaced by a deli located where the old lobby was. You can buy ice cream and sandwiches and salads there but no food items to take to your room. Sometimes I ask for chicken salad and egg salad and they respond by getting some into the deli cases the next day.

The new souvenir store off the new lobby is much bigger than the old one (which was replaced by the jewelry store).

The new gift shop has very few food items. That whole food store section with the canned goods and drinks beside the French Market is gone. When I asked if a food store was going in where the old gift shop was, I was told that it would be a food store, but now it's a jewelry store. What a waste of that space. I guess Divi is getting a good rent for it. I can't imagine it surviving.
