Question How to do private rental? Request input.

Hi all:

I'm new at this rental business and would like some imput about what people do to list a rental (obviously noting the week and price) but what do you do deposit-wise, contracts or agreements between owner and renter, notifying anyone at marriott that you have a renter using your week, policies for deposit returns vs nonrefundable and whatever your experience has been, good, bad or indifferent.

Also would like to know if anyone (this may not be the area to post) has had a week booked, wasn't able to secure a renter and what did/do you do with the week? Did you deposit with Interval or other? I hate the thought of a week totally going to waste in the event I can't get there and I can't get a renter...

Thanks in advance!

RED WEEK.com is one of the best places to post a rental. I can't remember the cost, but it was minimal.

I used a rental agreement that was posted on this web site years ago. Maybe you could ask for it and they will either send or post it for you. If you have a fax number, I might be able to find a copy and fax it to you.

I asked for a non-refundable deposit but can't remember how much. I did request full payment 60 days in advance refundable only in case of death in the family or hospitalization. That way you would still have time to rent.

I own at the Surf Club and I had to notify them and pay a lock off fee. They in turn put the room in the name of the people renting.

If I think of anything else I will post another reply...

I have had nothing but BAD EXPERIENCES with Interva International. Call your Marriott vacatin club adviser to see what is the time table to turn in the week for points or even to have Marriott rent it for you for a hefty fee. At the Surf Club you have to give them the entire villa...
