One Happy Island 1 week to check in

Looking forward to getting to Aruba. We've been an owner prior to the Surf club even being built, but it's been almost 3 years since we've been back. Sounds like there have been a few changes. I'm hoping having to reserve a chair at the pool or at the beach is not going to be a pain. I just want to hit the lazy river and drink some frozen concoctions for 7 days............ Any new restaurant suggestions?

Mitch - one place we found....unfortunately near the end of our week was The Kitchen - it is on the east side of the supermarkets (Certified, Superfoods, Defiance, etc.) look for the street that runs north/south. Anyway, it's all take out (includes everything you need from starters to wine, etc.) but great food with restaurant quality and very reasonable. The owner is Aruban and his wife is Brazilian (so the food is prepared with Brazilian flair) and since you're at the Marriott you might find this a good twist to add to your week.

Mitch...welcome to the board...and congrats on your upcoming trip....alot of changes I guess in 3 years..but nothing that will hamper your vacation. They have tried to alleviate alot of the beach and pool situations over there....not sure how it's working out though..was there on a get-a-way last year....it wasn't all that bad...just check the rules of getting your chairs and you should be fine.
I can't give you any suggestions on new restaurants....and that's only because I have several that I plan on trying this year myself. One is Cook's......can't wait to go there...hi Ommi.....and another one I haven't tried yet is Matthews.....there's two....I'm sure others will jump in here and give you a suggestion or three. LOL. Snscreen has already offered a name that I think I will try to get our group to give a go so we can stay in one night.
Again...welcome to the board...please check back often with comments or questions....then if you can give us some updates while you are there (if you are so inclined of course) or after you return give us a full report....we love to hear about other people's trips

Thanks Elaine!

Where and what kind of food is Amadeus?

Also, a friend told me that there is good snorkeling on the beach by the lighthouse. First I heard of this. Can anyone confirm?

My wife and I are not great swimmers and prefer to snorkel where we can easily get on our feet. No laughing now..... The beach in front of the Marriott Vacation Club in St. Kitts was great for this.......

Snorkeling near the Light house , Not. They probably mean Boca Catalina which is in Malmok near Arashi beach on the left before Arashi. There is a home with an Infinty pool on the right and the small parking lot is on the left ocean front. Baby Beach is fine for non swimmers with all the fish you can imagine. They love green peas.
P.S. Anywhere you see the Catamarans and Pirate boats dock, you will find fish. Just park on the side of the road and go in where you feel comfortable.

Not sure if you've already heard about these, but here are just a few more in absolutely no particular order.

Madame Jeanette's
Wacky Wahoo
Bingo's
Mulligan's at Divi Golf Resort - nice varied menu and good food
Peanuts

I'm sure by tomorrow I'll have a bunch more, but a fog seems to be coming over me right now. Cook's, Amadeus and The Kitchen are on the top of my list for next year.

And I ask everyone who is leaving soon, got any room for meeeeeeeee?

The wait is over. I'll be in Ariba tonight. Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll check in with how it's going during the week.
