Be carefull what you send to certain people. It's nobody's business what you contract contains. Some people appear to do good things and sometime cause a lot of trouble.

Since I am an owner at theRiu I would also like this explained.

I did receive an email requesting a copy of a contract before 1994-I think that was the year.
Not sure what problems this could cause.
Hope Golden Tulip returns.

Why would you send a complete stranger a copy of your contract with out knowing what it is for and what they are up to?

GoldenTulip,
If you are referring to an email sent by Jon Kirshner, trust me, he's only trying to help. "Aruba Grand" timeshare owners deserve better unit conditions and better treatment all around and that is the goal here.

Golden Tulip- I did not say I sent a copy-I did not,he wanted a time frame that I did not have. I asked you-"what problems you thought it would cause by sending it?" Also-you said some people could cause trouble. I just think if you are going to make statements like this you need to be more specific.
All information that is posted about the Riu is of interest to many of us,especially since there is so little contact from Riu. I am not trying to be critical of you or what you posted just feel you need to give more info.

Hi Lynn, how's it going?!

Had a great time. Good weather for the most part, huge waves the last two days and rain the day we left. Other than that, sunny as usual.

Little if any change with the timeshare itself. Everything was there that was suppose to be there (iron, toaster, etc.). Apparently they gave us new mattresses. I was never notified about new mattresses but I guessed they replaced them all. Other than that, same as usual.

Despite all the craziness surrounding management, thefts, etc., had a nice, relaxing, fun time.

Lynn, I didn't mean you personally. I ment why would anyone send there contract without out knowning what's going on.
I have just noticed that a lot of positive things that owners send in don't get sent out to everyone, like a lot of negitive things do. It seems certain people filter things the way they want it.
For example, we got new mattress, but never any notice was passed on.
Our problem with maintence started long before RIU took over.
Have a nice day.

golden, i think people tend to remember the bad stuff and want to complain. maybe we need people like you to remind us of the good. when you see a positive, let us know. it can make a difference.

Sorry-I misunderstood your post.
That is soooooo true and something I have stated many times. Many expected the Riu to come in and completly redo the units-something the first owner never did. Not sure why that was "expected." The same people were surprised when Riu opened and the units were exactly the same-we had been told that nothing would be done.
Thanks for posting again and explaining your original post. It would be nice if Riu would keep us informed.

Alright, I'll throw out a positive.
I've been very impressed with RIU's general staff. They've been nothing but helpful and friendly from the beginning. When the RIU first opened, my unit was a mess. Ceiling leaking, items missing (iron, toaster, etc.), beach door lock didn't work; and recently, I've been unable to adjust my cooling unit. Cleaning girl, bell hops, front desk, maintenance people were extremely helpful in solving my "issues".

thank you! that sure is better than what we are reading about some of the places lately. i agree there is no reason to only post the negatives.

Same here,

Last April we too were very impressed w/RIU.

Being owners since April 1991, we were not expecting anything to change with the rooms(they do need to be re-done!).

We are looking forward to our return to the RIU and doing the AI !

(The week after, we check into LaCabana and get to enjoy all our favorite restaurants.)
