Default Divi Village and Villas help!

My wife and I where in Aruba this past week from 8/9 - 8/16 and attended one of the Divi Timeshare presentations at the Divi Links Resort. We were given a tour of the Golf Villas and from there made the decision to purchase a timeshare. We dealt with the office manager and he told us that all of the units in the Villas came with a washer and drier. When we filled out the paperwork he gave us a room number of 3408 in building C.(we had no idea where that was) Once I got back home, I did some research about the resort I found that he did not assign us a room in the villas but a room in the "Resort" area which are much older and do not have washers and dryers in the units. We are very upset with this and feel like we got scammed by the manager. He also did not let us choose which week we wanted to have our room. Does anyone have any advice for us. Should I just not worry about it since well probably never be there during "our" week anyway and just be assigned another room?

I would be BS. Depending on how much you spent. This unit is in a nice building with elevator but is right behind the restaurant. The washer and dryers are on the same floor I do believe. If you were looking for the Villas you got hosed. Contact them.

Well I got a call back from the office manager at the Links. He says that we got the the right unit for what we paid. He says that the Golf Villas are about 3x what we paid and that we still have the option to request the Villas when we make our reservation. I still feel like it was a scam but atleast the RCI point value is high so we can trade for some pretty decent places. If someone wouldnt mind PMing me I would love to know a ballpark figure of what others here paid for a similar unit. (one bedroom).

Price depends on the week usage you've purchased.
Which one is it?

I'm just trying to help so I want to make sure...

When you say the resort you mean the:
Divi Dutch Village Resort, Right? If so.

You can find many 1 bedroom unit weeks during summer period for sale for around $3,000-$6,000.

But these units are resales from previous owners and are surely a lot less expensive then if purchased via the resort directly.
Still they gave you an idea about the value of your unit.

Thanks for the response. We actually are in the Divi Village Beach and Golf Resort area. In building "C". Same property as the Golf Villas.

Then the value seems to be around $5,000-7,000.
There even was a 2 bedroom week 35 just beside yours for $8,000.

Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort Timeshare in Oranjestad, Netherlands Antilles. Time share ID 115442
Well that makes me feel better. At least we didnt get taken too badly. This has definitely been one of those "you live and you learn" situations.

We all make mistakes.... especially when we purchase new type of items.
Good thing is if you ever decide to add another week because one is not enough you will be ready...

Now forget about the things you can't change and enjoy your vacations.

carrera0to60, I would be livid and cancel my contract with them. Divi sales do bait and switch all the time- see my post about the lies they told me- my recommendation is to get rid of the timeshare! In my opinion, you will be better off finding hotels that have great rates or packages put together for you to enjoy! Your maintenance fee is going to go up every year, and when you don't use the units Divi/RCI will rent them, not tell you and they will keep the money.

I Love Aruba Re: Divi Village and Villas help!

I have always had a problem with Divi Village Beach and Golf Resort because there is no clear distinction between the older section (buildings A,B,C,D,F and the E villas)and the newer Links sections. The Villas are the E buildings which are the older version of the Eagle units at the Links. How would any newcomer know this unless it is pointed out to them in the sales presentation??? No wonder no one knows what they are buying or renting.

The sales people show everybody the newer Divi Links pool with the swim up bar, and then they sell the older Divi Village section. They don't mention which buildings have no elevator. You should, at the very least, be shown the actual unit you are buying!

The Interval International exchange company calls it all one resort. Even the photos are of the newer units when you are really getting a trade into the older section. I have complained about this to them and they said that the resort submits the photos.

At least RCI distinguishes them as two different resorts. One is called Divi Village and one is called The Links at Divi Village.

The two parts should be separated and called two different things so people are not continually confused.
