Default Dangerous intersections

I posted this on the other thread but thought it was important
enough to start another thread just so people might not miss it:

One other note about the recent accidents.

2 really fatal accidents occurred at the same place
within the past month. Last accident had 3 people
die on scene with others in critical condition -
right where the RIO steakhouse was (or the road
coming out from the mill hotel if you don't know
where the RIO was).

So even though that may not look like a place
where accidents happen - it seems to be
a 'hot' spot lately. There has been a cross
there with flowers for a long time before all
these accidents happen.

So be very careful there.

Another place that I think is really dangerous is where the
road from the hospital comes out on the highway. Have
seen many near and actual accidents there.

I Love Aruba Re: Dangerous intersections

The intersecting roads by the hospital definitely need some type of light. Nobody gives an inch, and it's pretty scary!

another problem is that many americans are not used to roundabouts. we have some 'mini' ones in maryland that are a farce but the real ones such as on aruba can be dangerous. remember, the person in the circle has the right of way. if you go racing into the circle you have a good chance of losing the battle. if you go jumping across the lanes to leave the circle instead of moving over carefully you also endanger yourself and others.

Just went to the supermarket and at the two intersections we
talked about they actually have those 'your speed is XX' signs.
Don't know if it has a camera but good to know that they are
trying to do something about it during this 'alert' driving time!

Newby here. I just bought a Borch Map of Aruba and the towns. Could someone locate the bad intersections (ie...cF2 (Costa Linda is there)?

Also, I read somewhere that one of the main streets is a nightmare with traffic. If this is true, which would it (they) be? Based on my 50s & 60s cruising knowledge, I would choose J.E. Irausquin Blvd to cruise on a Sat. Night!

downtown and and the high rise area on j.e. i. is horrible for traffic congestion most of the time. it doesn't have to be saturday night. with tourists there all the time it is every day.

They are starting to renovate downtown. The main street ( the one 1 block in) is closed off to traffic and I believe today they are doing a 'tree planting'
ceremony to mark the start of it. Saw it in the Amigoe and also confirmed by others here. The main street will no longer be open to traffic.

I would love to see the plans. I hear that they will also be renovating the
area in back of parliament.

If anyone find them on the web - please let me know. It looks like a big
project and I am happy they are doing it.

They had one plan that is dead (thank heavens) where they were going
to have main street made like a mall - the street was going to be glassed
in and there was something about a big casino. They have redone the
plan and it is attempting to make the main street to have 'local flavor'.

I have also heard they are addressing the choller situation.

I am happy to see the new government doing all this!
