This is a studio unit in the Phoenix beachfront villas, overlooking the courtyard and the original pools (former Sunsplash Bar area). If you don't have the energy to go back to the beach, you can...

Re: How is the re-done Sunset Beach Bistro?
Update:
We went there this past Monday (Jan. 20) and were actually quite pleased. Glad to see that some of the waiters are still there, and, while the three course dinner idea is gone, the menu...

Re: New System for Beach Palapas
This is an improvement that was long needed. While we were not having problems in the past (especially after they opened the so-called "South Beach" section, where not many people want to be because...

How is the re-done Sunset Beach Bistro?
I don't want to call it "Pure Ocean" because it's a far more meaningless name than the original. I hope they left it with some of its original character and didn't load it up with TVs, mediocre...

Paradise Lost
Once there was a tranquil place, at the far end of the frenzy of Palm Beach; a little oasis where you could relax; hear the sounds of the water, the wind, the birds, but still not far from the...

Re: Here now !!!
I'm not surprised that it's crowded. The Phoenix's beach was perfectly adequate for when it was the tower and the villas, but Divi just had to put in 4 new high rises and that, as anyone could have...

Thanks. yes, that's the section I meant. the gazebo was there last January, and it was for massages. they were bringing in sand and grooming the beach, so we assumed they would be putting up new...

Re: Another beach question!
Thanks. If they keep going the way they have been, this will be the busy part of Palm Beach! Let them leave the coral where it is: at least that end of the beach will be peaceful.

Re: Another beach question!
Thanks. We're hoping that it stays quiet down at that end (past Sunset Bistro). That's interesting about a dock on the jetty. I wonder what they are planning to do with that.

Another beach question!
We were wondering how the "new" beach came out in the section down past Sunset Bistro. When we were there back in January they had killed off the trees, sea grape, etc., and were putting in sand to...

Lots of places!
Aruba is where we relax before our real travel, which usually involves first a ski trip out west (Utah, the last 3-4 years), and then a more exotic locale. This March we were in Nepal; last year,...

Re: More Beach yet?
There's no more beach, though during week 3 they were demolishing some of the greenery just south of Sunset Beach Bistro and trucking in and spreading sand there, so it will probably be a place for...

The second year of the over-expanded Phoenix (which is still not fully sold) convinces me that my assessment from last year was right: all change is not for the better. Compounded by two hard facts...

Chacun a son goute, as we say around here. I've never tried the Marriott, but I know how crowded that end of the beach gets, as we walk up there every day we're here. We did stay at the Playa Linda...

There is the new Deli, but it's not the same. the sandwiches and salads are pre-made and the help is also not happy with the new, non-air-conditioned location.
If they do dredge and improve the...

Re: Construction at the Divi Phoenix
One thing they could do is get rid of that jetty. I think that's what helps cause some of the erosion, as well as the pileup of stuff (seaweed, shells, and the litter of the careless) right along...
