Default OK Smarty pants

Here is a fun quiz for you.

Name of the first timeshare resort
Location where it was built
Location where the sales office was primarily located
Name of the developing company
What exchange were they affiliated with?

Give it your best shot!!

Thanks Auntie... I remember in 1980 when my brother was staying at Manchebo and ABC had begun selling timeshares which he bought, and I bought there years later. Let's see if Charles has something else up his sleeve like some place that could have opened, but went down the tubes....

I don't think Charles meant just Aruba. I think he meant the actual First timeshare. I think it was built in North Carolina by either Hilton or Marriott. It was originally sold through the hotel chain but shortly went to RCI as more timeshares were built.

How close am I Charles?

Oops - I goofed. Hilton Head is in South Carolina, not North Carolina.

I believe that I heard from a thrad a while back on my board that the first TS ever built was at Shawnee in the Pocconos, PA. If am not mistaken it is about 35 years old. I could find out for sure if you like.

I asked my neighbors last night about this question. They have owned a timeshare in Las Vegas for many years...early 70's It was at the Hacienda, which was torn down to make way for the Monte Carlo. But they said if they had to take a guess it would be Hawaii as that was their other option to buy at that time...They paid $500.00 for the Hacienda, which was then moved to the Sahara when the Hacienda was torn down.

Just my guess.

I posted a response but it isn't here. will do it again.

Was initially talking about Aruba.
Aruba beach club was the first resort
Punto Brabo is the actual location
Sun Develpoment was the developer
Talk of the Town was the first sales office.
Listed with RCI - the 8th or 9th resort to list!!!

Timeshare is said to have started in France by a group of Doctors that wanted to share a chalet villa and each have individual ownership and usage of a different time. This opened the door for timeshare as we know it today.

The first resort on this side of the ocean was in Puerto Rico. Since been plowed away. Saorry I don't have the name.
