Default Lockoff?

Can someone explain the meaning of a "lockoff" in the Marriott timeshares and others? Thanks!

Dee...a lockoff is the second bedroom of a two bedroom villa. It has your bed and bath, a pull out sofa, full entertainment center with tv and dvr player, coffee table and so on, it just doesn't have full kitchen or dining facilities. However, you do have a small fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, small wet sink, and dishes for two. Hope this helps.

Are there certain privileges that you get for owning one? I mean, why don't they just call it a 2-bedroom? There must be some differentiating factors?
Thanks!
Dee

Dee I just typed this big long thing to post and it got lost somewhere...so I might just tell you to go to
www.marriott-timeshare.com and check their website. You will see a section for non-owners who are interested in timeshare info and you can enter and get the answers to all your questions.

Dee
We own a 2 bedroom villa which can house up to 8 people. If we don't want to use the entire villa we can lock it off. The "lock-off" part is a guest room with mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, bathroom, queen bed, pullout sofa and private balcony.

Why would we lock it off? Here's a few scenarios to help better explain the advantages of lockoff capabilities:
1. We are travelling as a couple so we don't need all the room for 8 people. We lock it off and can rent out the other private room (lockoff) to another couple.
2. We aren't travelling to Aruba and want to rent our villa to two different families. We lock it off so the Smith Family with 2 kids has the larger master suite (master bedroom, full kitchen, living room) and Jones couple has the lockoff.
3. My husband and I want to extend our stay to two weeks. We tell Marriott we want to use the master suite side one week, then the next week we use the lockoff.

Thank you Weimaraner...I tried to say all that in that post I lost. But I think you did it better anyway! I think Dee will have a pretty clear idea what timeshare is all about with your clear description.

At Divi Village.
A 1BR and a studio. Full kitchen in each. Full bathroom in each.
Significant square footage, each.
Same useability as described for other resort.

Smile Re: Lockoff?

Basically, in a lockoff, the second bedroom has its own entrance. I think the biggest advantage of having one, is you can get two weeks out of one unit by "locking" it off.
