I wish I could tell you about Aruba

Charles, that was a wonderful story. I have to say though that it put me in mind of the most favorite part of my childhood. Summer vacation. Oh how we loved our summer vacation. We had the sandy lot and the marbles, that feeling of an endless amount of free time. Where you hiked everywhere, we rode our bikes everywhere. We made a game of trying to get lost so as to have the adventure of finding our way home. Back then we never worried about child kidnapping or bad men. We never even thought about it. We just lived. Of course we never saved a goat (that would surely have been something in Queens New York), but we saved quite a few injured birds, and rescued kittens out of a tree. We people watched. We collected interesting bottles, or rocks, and pink rubber balls that were probably lost by other children. And we had the best time doing it. We were also freer spirits. We may not have been in Aruba, and you were not in New York, but I kind of think we were in the same place anyway.

The experiences are universal. What gets me is how here on this silly piece of rock in the Caribbean, things seem to take on a different light somehow. maybe not, I don't know.

Oh I agree about that different light - it's the very reason we all have this unique and never-ending love for that piece of rock as you call it, lol. There's no place like it in the whole world, and it's where I want to be always. No place else can compare. This is the first time I read one of your stories that actually reminded me of something in my own life. So I had to share.
