Default Which Hotel?

Now that we no longer have our timeshares at LaCabana we decided we'd go stay in a hotel next trip (April or May of next year). If you had your choice between the Marriott Surf Club and the Westin...which would you choose? They are both on SALE SALE SALE!!! for the dates we are looking at. I originally thought i'd go back to the Radisson but its way too expensive for our pockets right now.

As much as we LOVE Eagle Beach we are willing to go spend a week down in Palm Bach for the convienence to all (we never rent a car)!!

Thanks!

Elisa....I'm partial to Palm Beach...so I would send you to the Surf..and I like the spacious rooms over there. I am an OC person myself..but there is fun to be had at the Surf as well. I can't give an opinion on the Westin as I've never stayed...but I'm sure someone will give you a thought on that property as well. Hope whatever you decide you get a ticker up and running soon!!!

I'd go with the Westin. That end of Palm Beach is quieter while still being convenient to everything. And.................. for me............... the Marriott is just too big.

We have stayed at both. We like both. It really is a personal choice. What kind of room is available at the Surf Club? The studios there are all lock-offs from 2 br units and they are TINY. The 1 br is huge and nice. Dont stay there unless you can get a 1 br or larger. The Surf Club has the lazy river, a swim up bar and a kitchen.
The Westin is very nice. It was just remodelled last year. We like the beach there much better than at the Surf Club. More room, less people and way more palapas. Nice pool and they bring you frozen fruit on a stick while youre sunning or swimming.
There are more dining choices at the Westin. The Terrace has breakfast and lunch with a beach view. Blosoms is one of our favorites, plus Pago Pago and Bacci. I dont think the surf club has a restaurant.

Without a car, I would stay at the Westin. Much easier walk to the other dining places than from the Marriott complex. If you do stay at the Westin, tell them you want a room on the south side. The ones on the north have a very limited ocean view because of the RIU. One of their new towers cut off a lot of the views.

We have stayed at the Westin 4 times and always got it for between $115 and $139. We booked it through Hotels.com 1 time and hotwire the other 3. Travelocity has it on sale as well sometimes. Hotwire doesnt give you the name but in the description it says this 4* is a resort, on the beach, with a casino etc. Well, the only 4* hotels on the beach(not nearby beach) with a casino on Aruba are the Marriot, Hyatt, Radisson and Westin. They also have a resort, beach nearby with a casino that I am assuming is the Renaissance although ive never booked it.

You might also check out the Aruba Beach Club, Casa Del Mar, Playa Linda and Costa Linda web sites under units for rent by owners. We rented a week in a 1br at PL for this Oct for $850. We have rented at ABC from an owner for as little as $600 a week. CL we have rented for $1200(2br). Have seen a 2br at CDM for $850 and $900. If your dates are somewhat flexible, that is where you should look. All of these have a section for owner rental lisitngs. There are units available now for April and May and the closer we get to that time, the more will be listed.
