I always purchase from Global Travel Shield. Price is based on cost of trip and age. Very reasonable.

We use Accesss America all of the time when travelling. Their policy covers you from delayed, cancelled flights to medical evacuation if necessary. They are located in Virginia and their policies are not too expensive. Just booked them for our next trip and highly recommend them. If the need for a doctor/hospital should arise, make sure the bill you get is in English.

We're generally willing to take the chance (& potential loss) and don't insure our Aruba trips BUT, I always purchase medical insurance that will get us home in the event of an accident or serious illness that requires hospitalization. I get that from USAA.

When we're taking a major trip, I use insuremytrip.com. It's easy to use & the compare feature is a big help.
