Wink Re: Driftwood

We enjoy the Driftwood and have eaten there the past 3 years. The only thing that couldbe better is the selection of fresh fish! Every time we have been there they have offered only one fresh fish and it has been the same!

Also, scallops would be a good addition to the menu.

One of our favorite restaurants on Aruba. The best fish you will find, especially good if you catch it yourself. They will prepare the fish that you catch in several different ways and all are delicious.

----- Ditto. Been almost every year since 1987. Catch of the Day always excellent. Get coupon at airport for free glass of house wine for everyone at table.

Us three girls all enjoyed the Driftwood. I'm not a fish person so two of us had steak (seems we ate steak almost every night). Patsy was the fish eater. I remember that day while snorkeling, we came upon a grouper. Patsy thought he was the cutest little fishy and sworn she was never gonna eat one. I almost died laughing when that was the only "catch of the day." I don't think Patsy heard the waiter say it was "grouper," so she ate it. She thought it was the best fish she had in Aruba, And Fish is what she ate the most. The Martini's were perfect too!

Thumbs up Re: Driftwood

The Driftwood is a must do on my list every year. I've never had a bad meal there and the Blackened Mahi Mahi is the best on the Island. I will always send my friends to this restaurant. 40 days and counting!!!

welcome sherry!

how did driftwood try to overcharge you? was it a mistake or intentional? the cornbread at old fisherman is the absolute best. next trip get there for dinner.

Thumbs up Re: Driftwood

Every year we go to Aruba, it is a struggle to fit in all the restaurants we want to try or return to...yet every year we fit in the Driftwood. The white sangria is to die for. They gave me a copy of their recipe and I tried to duplicate it at home but it just wasn't the same. We always plan to go to Driftwood the night of my husband's fishing charter. We bring the fish he caught and they prepare it four different ways - Aruban style, Garlic, Deep Fried and I think steamed or broiled. And, if by any chance he didn't get lucky fishing, the lobster thermidor is yummy too!

We always try to do this as well on the day(s) we fish. The 4 different preparations of the fish is fantastic!

I've been eating at the Driftwood for the past 10 years with my family and have never had a bad meal. I especially love their fish made aruban style. The friendly staff are very attentive too.

Great food. Service is very good. It can be a little noisy in the main room, but you can ask for seating in the side room and will be quieter. I am very hard of hearing and always use this room. If I had a bad comment to make it would be no real variety in the menu. Doesn't change much, but then why change when food is so good.

I Love Aruba Driftwood

Anyone been? Menu sounds great! Any input? Do you have to have a reservation? Where exactly is it downtown? Any pics?

Thanks.

I Love Aruba Re: Driftwood

We really enjoy this restaurant. It is our first dinner on our last 4 trips and plan on it being our first dinner in April as well. we LOVE the Lobster crepe for an app. The service is wonderful as is the food. The atmosphere is nice it is an "indoor" restaurant but well worth the trip and we get lost everytime we we go. LOL - If you decide to go - hope you enjoy and try the crepe - you will love it.

The Driftwood is nearly an institution in Aruba. We've been going here a long time. Always good. One of my husband's favorites.

Not only was the meal here excellent on our final evening in Aruba, but they don't charge a service charge! Nearly everywhere we went charged 15% (which is not the waiter tip).

I had the grilled salmon and my sister had fried shrimp. All terrific. Were given alot of attention and the atmosphere was terrific-- great decor. Oh, the sangrias they made there were good too!

Definitely would return here again and again!

(Thanks Elaine for helping us choose this one).

I went to the Driftwood in December with some people we met at the Surf Club. I should mention that my wife and I are not fish eaters, but we do love shellfish (lobster, shrimp, crabs, etc.). We both ordered a surf/turf skewer meal. I'd have to say that was the worst meal we've had in Aruba. The lobster was almost not edible, the beef was very bland and fatty. We did have a good time with the people we were with though.
