This years trip will start in a different way then the last 4 trips. The other 4 trips we have started from Gothenburg --Amsterdam-- Aruba. This year we will fly from Gothenburg-- Frankfurt-- Miami---Aruba. My question is .....what will we do at the airport in Miami? We will be there for about 6 hours. I have another question....can we by something to eat and drink at the airport and take it with us on the flight to Aruba. I hope there are someone that can help us.

If you are still inside the security area, which you should be, yes you can take on your next flight.
6 hours in Miami........ find a comfortable, quiet spot and relax. Or go to a bar and eat and drink. |

great suggestions ebb. tina, they have some very good food and good bars and restaurants in the airport in miami. we were stuck there for a few hours and it wasn't bad at all. of course, you will be tired from so many flights but it isn't an uncomfortable airport to be in.
what is your route on the way home? is it the same? |

tina, that is such a lot of time on a long journey! we were worried about miami airport. it had been several years since we were last there. i must say they have changed the looks of the place and the attitude of everyone we dealt with was much better than it had been before. it used to be the place we dreaded a layover at. now we will have no problem.

Was in Miami Airport in February. Very clean and safe. Saw people using WIFI, not sure if is free or not. Places to eat and drink are not cheap. As long as you stay inside security you can take anything you buy on the flight. Have a great time.

From my experience MIA Int. airport can be like a 'zoo'....busy, busy, busy and that's just clearing customs and immigration. My advise to you in addition to the ones printed here is to find the hotel MIA (its the only one within the airport building, so you can't miss it) and treat yourself to a wonderful meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner). The restuarant upstairs is like a private lounge where you could relax for an hour or two. Its tastefully decorated and your choice of view is the front of the airport or the aircraft runway...great if you're plane spotter, but without the noise!!! If memory service me right it also has a cocktail lounge accessable via a spiral stair case from the restuarant level. Barring this, the main food court is before security. The thing to remember is any liquid (water/soft drink) purchased pre-security will be taken away. However, there are places pass security to buy snacks and drinks. Your flight to Aruba from Miami should be a little over 2 hours so you shouldn't really need much for the flight. Hope this helps! |

Dont know what airline you are flying but there are 3 admirals clubs at mia. If you are flying first class on AA or one of their codeshare airlines you can stay in there. You can also stay in them if you have a platinum american express card. You can buy a 1 day pass for 2 for $75 or an annual membership for $750 on their web page..

I want to say thank you to your tips. Now i know what i'm going to do.
1. Find the gate that will take us to the flight to Aruba. 2. Do some shoping. 3. Find a nice restaurant with good food and have something to eat and drink before takeoff. 4. Last but not least....find a seatingarea and just sit down and look at people that rush by. I love looking at people, there style in clothes, hair and makeup. It's fun to look att people and see thoose that try to much and thoose who don't care. Then it's thoose of us that are who we are. It's a lot of fun to imagine were the come from and wich kind of life they live. I don't ever get any answers but i don't mind that's a part of it all. Funny!! Sorry I can't help with info about Miami.
We just flew out and in Fort Lauderdale on the way to Aruba. The outside of airport buildings looked like an industrial complex. Inside, they were reasonably effficient and helpful...not many services in the terminal serving Spirit airlines. |
