Very average in my opinion. Went once about 8 years ago never went back, my wife has gone twice and she feels the same way. Driftwood is a far superior choice in my opinion.

We decided to go to The Buccaneer for dinner as it was a Friday night and they don't require reservations. Chris got a virgin pina colada and I got a brown lady. Dinner was the catch of the day for Chris (Barracuda – yummy) and madam jeanette shrimp for me (I forgot how spicy this dish is –whew!). This came with garlic bread, yummy salads (great garlic dressing) and a bunch of side dishes – a little of everything. Chris got a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The total was about $40 after the 5% off for the Visit Aruba card (you get 10% off if you pay cash). Everything was delicious! And the new Caribbean Reef shark was interesting to watch in the big tank.

I only go to Buccaneer if they have barracuda as the catch of the day. I love barracuda, and you can't beat the meal for their price.

Was at Buccaneer on our first trip to Aruba, our honeymoon back in 1984, every trip since than (about 10), we go back for a visit. Not so much for the food but for the memories. Over the years our kids did enjoy the atmosphere with the fish tanks, and the cold beer jugs (or whatever there called) where they serve the water are great. The lobster bisque is always good. It is a descent place at a reasonable price for Aruba standards.

Value for your money isn't worth going here compared to the many other restaurants you can pick from on the island. We've tried this restaurant on several occassions, giving them the opportunity to improve. But the food is consistently mushy with below standard quality fish compared with places like the Driftwood. The other Aruban specialties are substandard compared with places like The Promenande. We finally gave up going here and I would not recommend it to others.

Average Food, Decent Prices, Average Service

Buccaneer is one of the older restaurants that was very well known for the locals, and it remained that way as well. You get good food at a reasonable price. Each table has its aquarium which is a favorite for kids. Traditional Buccaneer goers will not stop going because of the fond memories as said in earlier posts. For the new visitors it'll be as pleasant, especially when you go with your entire family. Especially with the kids.

We had our first dining experience at the Buccaneer Restaurant on August 20th and is was OUTSTANDING!

The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable and the service was unsurpassed. This restaurant is so cozy, warm and inviting- on one side every booth has an individual aquarium, the other side has an extremely large aquarium and it feels like you are under the sea and the bar was shaped like the bow of a ship.

If you haven't been here, you should definately try it-
I am so glad we found this restaurant and will be sure to enjoy a meal here everytime we are on the island!

Our next trip to Aruba is in a few weeks and I can't wait to have the Buccaneer's fresh seafood again- it is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

AND for those of you spending Thanksgiving in Aruba-

The Buccaneer is hosting their first ever Thanksgiving Dinner with a fixed price menu including all of the fixings. We will be coming home prior to the holiday, but, we really wish we could of been there to enjoy a tropical Thanksgiving in Aruba with the company of such wonderful people-something I will plan for next year.

At one time I found the Buccaneer fair, but I was pleasantly surprised two years ago when I revisited the Buccaneer. I enjoyed the meal, the prices, and the ambience. Following my initial visit two years ago I decided to go once again prior to leaving the island. Last year I dined at Buccaneer twice, and was very pleased each time. I look forward to going to Buccaneer again in February.

I would never pick Buccaneer as a quiet, nice place to take a date or spouse, but I highly recommend it as one of the best kid friendly restaurants on the island! My cousin and I took our children, ages 3,5,6,and 9 without our spouses, and the kids loved it. The food is good, nothing specatcular, but we enjoyed it. The kids LOVED the decor, make sure to sit next to a tank! THe staff and owners were so friendly, that we will go back in our next visit in a second. We had a great time!!!

Although my last visit to the Buccaneer was two years ago, I remember it vividly. It was probably one of the worst meals in Aruba we've had. The food was too expensive for the minute portions we received. Very disappointing and would not recommend it.

One good thing about the Forum----we all have our opinions, and we certainly differ on the Buccaneer. Try it; you'll like it (my opinion).
