Default Airfares???

Hi all...been a while since i've been on this board! Miss you all! I just finished catching up on everyone and hate to read the sad news and obviously glad to read the GOOD!!! On that note...our oldest daughter is getting married in July and just the other night chose Aruba as her honeymoon destination (I taught her well). I'm shocked at the plane fares...is it just so late to be booking for July? I've tried all my tricks and can't find them anything under $1,000 (for both). They are using her future mother-in-laws timeshare exchange so they are arriving on a Thursday. I thought that would help with lower fares but NOT!

Any advise? Should we wait for maybe a last minutes sale or grab what we can now for just over 1,000? I've never seen the flights soooo HIGH!
Thanks!
Elisa

I Love Aruba Re: Airfares???

---- If you mean $500 for each, that is a good deal. Grab it.

elisa, nice to see you back! actually $1k is not bad at all. i know in jersey you get cheaper fares but that isn't bad. we are paying $806 total but that was on one of the rare sales several months ago. in maryland. usually it's $14-1500 for two in august. i hate to say it but i think they are going to pay that much.

Not sure of your dates in July but Jetblue out of JFK has some seats at $314 plus tax on Thursdays in July. Usually Tuesday afternoon is the best time to purchase airfares.

We are flying Spirit out of Atlantic City next week and using a $24 coupon got it down to about $325 but they only fly on Saturdays - everything else we saw was in that $500 range whether we checked Philly or any of the NY airports.

They need to go on Thursday because the timeshare starts that day. Bad enough they are waiting 5 days after the wedding to go on their honeymoon.

I have never paid anything close to that amount in all the years i've travelled to Aruba...but...I never went in July/August either. We used to go May and November and once went in April.

I'll check out the JetBlue (but I think I already did) from JFK even though its much farther for them to get to (we are at the Jersey Shore).

Thanks ALL!!!!!

I agree!

Mom is paying $570 in July but to come to US... I have never been lucky to get anything under $450... anything around that I grab right away...
